Storytelling Family Session – New York City

February 8, 2015

Day in life documentary sessions allows me to create artful imagery while including the entire family for them to pass down thru their family history.

I have been photographing this family even before the kids were born. I first captured Carly and Josh as a couple, and once the kids were born, I began documenting them with family sessions. This session is our first day in life session, which is family photojournalism of a full day in their life. I love Day In Life sessions because it allows me to document a family in their real element. No direction just them and their daily activities as a family, I show up the evening before for us to get comfortable without any photos being made.

Even if I know the family, it allows me to catch all the sweet morning rituals when they wake up. The morning moments are so much fun to document, getting ready, breakfast time and their family time together.  Josh is a photographer, so they really loved the idea of an unscripted day of family photos. (Something this he is generally documenting himself)   The idea is to do a session each year, so you have an annual album collection for the family to enjoy for many years to come. Enjoy!
