Year 2 – A day in a life with an NYC family of five
This is my second documentary Day in a life photography session with this fun New York city family. (their first session here) I’ve had the pleasure of documenting them for years beginning with their engagement session and first family session when their oldest was just a few days old. Capturing families everyday life means I get to contribute to their history for generations to come which is something I hold very close to my heart. My dad was a photographer, and naturally, our childhood was a big part of what he captured. (LUCKY ME!) Seeing our everyday lives and remembering the little bits of our home, things, places and significant people throughout my childhood years means the world to me.
His photos are the best gift I could have ever received, and I am so excited to share them with the rest of our family as I begin to archive them. My father’s work has a HUGE influence on my desire to create a family documentary package for my clients. Much like my dad, I am in very few photos because I am usually the one capturing the moment. Josh (awesome Dad and Photographer) and Carly understood the beauty and significance of family photojournalism work in addition to my traditional family sessions and embraced it wholeheartedly starting with their first day in life session. I loved seeing that their typical weekend routine is so similar to our first session yet some much growth in their family has happened since last year. I am so fortunate to say that part of my job is eating chocolate chip pancakes and singing the scooby-doo theme songs while creating artistic and meaningfully photography.
